Hi, Just wondering what’s up with Jesus Montero. He’s too good of a hitter to be posting these numbers. I’ve followed him from day 1 of his minor league career, even got to see him at his games with the Blue Claws and I just don’t understand the numbers I’m looking at. If he’s not hurt I hope he settles down and gets his confidence back. If you talk to him, please let him know we’re all pulling for him to break out. Just relax, you can do it Jesus.

@pjeremus:

I think you need to remember that Montero is just 20-years old and this is his first year at the AAA level. He still has some adjusting and maturing to do. He’s shown signs of the player he can be. He’s hit several balls hard that have gone for outs and 4-5 balls that I can remember to the deepest part of PNC Field that have been caught at the wall. Give him time. Let’s not forget that less than two years ago Yankee fans were calling for the trade of Phil Hughes because ‘He’ll never be a big league pitcher. He’s a bust!’

Let’s just see how things play out before we declare another young player ‘a bust.’
