Game Notes:

  •  The Yankees will face Stephen Strasburg tonight. Strasburg is the number one pitching prospect in baseball. 
  • David Winfree is still out of the lineup with a wrist injury. Yankee skipper, Dave Miley thinks Winfree will be back in the lineup tomorrow. 
  • Colin Curtis took batting practice today. 
  • Tim Redding was activated before the game and will make the start tonight for the Yankees. P.J. Pilittere was sent to Staten Island. 
  • Jason Hirsh will be working out of the bullpen in order to make room for Redding in the rotation.

-The Yankees and Chiefs are scoreless through two innings. Jon Weber’s ground ball single to center field is the only hit off of Strasburg for the Yankees. Jesus Montero hit a hard line drive to center field, but it was right at Pete Orr. 
Top 3rd, 1-0 Yankees
-Rene Rivera just blasted a 99 mph fastball from Strasburg over the right center field wall. Reid Gorecki, Matt Cusick and Greg Golson will look to add to the 1-0 lead in the top of the third. 
Top of the 4th,  1-0 Yankees
Jon Weber is tonight’s “Taco Bell K-man”. The “K-man” is a promotion done in Syracuse in which the Chiefs pick the player who is least likely to strike out from the opposing team. If the player strikes out, all of the fans at Alliance Bank Stadium receive a free taco from Taco Bell. Weber is 1-1 tonight with a single and a walk. T
he crowd was not very happy when Strasuburg walked Weber. 
Bottom of the 4th, 1-1
Chase Lambin just singled in Leonard Davis to knot the score at 1-1. Chris Duncan is at the plate with a runner on first and one out. 
Bottom of the 4th 2-1 
Luis Ordaz just hit an RBI single to center to give the Chiefs a 2-1 lead. Greg Golson made a strong throw to home plate, but was a little high and Montero couldn’t apply the tag in time to get Lambin at the plate. Pedro Lopez is at the plate for the chiefs with runners on second and third with two outs. 

Top of the 5th, 2-1 Chiefs
Tim Redding struck out Pedro Lopez to end the Chiefs fourth inning rally. Rene Rivera, Reid Gorecki and Matt Cusick are due up for the Yankees in the top half of the fifth inning.
Top of the 5th, 2-1 Chiefs
-Impressive inning for Strasburg. He struck out Rivera, Gorecki and Golson to make sure the Chiefs maintained their 2-1 lead. Matt Cusick was stranded on base after hitting a line drive single to left field. Strasburg has allowed four hits and one run through five innings of work. 
Bottom of the 5th, 2-1 Chiefs 
Zack Segovia has just come in to relieve Tim Redding. Redding allowed two runs off of seven hits in 4 2/3 innings. Leonard Davis is at the plate for the Chiefs with two outs and nobody on base. 
Top of the 6th, 2-1 Chiefs
- Zack Segovia allowed a ground ball single to right off the bat of Leonard Davis, but the Kevin Mench popped up to short left field to end the inning. Reegie Corona, Eduardo Nunez and Jon “K-man” Weber are due up for the Yankees in the sixth.
Top of the 6th, 2-1 Chiefs
- It has been a wild sixth inning so far at Alliance Bank Stadium. Jon Weber was tossed from the game after an altercation with home plate umpire John Conrad. The count was 2-2 when Weber was tossed, so Jeff Natale came in to replace Weber. Strasburg was called for a balk and Reegie Corona advanced to third. Jeff Natale walked on the following pitch and Strasburg was pulled from the game after five innings. Josh Wilkie has come in to relieve Strasburg. The Yankees have the bases loaded with nobody out and Chad Huffman at the plate.
Bottom of the 6th, 3-2 Yankees
With the bases loaded, Chad Huffman grounded into a double play, but Reegie Corona was able to score and knot the game at 2-2. Jesus Montero gave the Yankees the lead with a single up the middle. Eduardo Nunez scored from the third. Rene Rivera grounded out to short to end the inning. Josh Whitesell, Chase Lambin and Chris Duncan are due up in the bottom half of the sixth inning.  
Top of the 7th 3-2 Yankees
Zack Segovia retired Whitesell, Lambin and Duncan to maintain the Yankees 3-2 lead. Reid Gorecki, Matt Cusick and Greg Golson are due up for the Yankees in the top of the seventh inning. 
Bottom of the 7th, 3-2 Yankees
Collin Balester has come in to relieve Josh Wilkie after 2 2/3 innings. Wilkie will face Chad Huffman with 2 outs and nobody on base in the top of the eighth inning. 
Bottom of the 8th, 3-2 Yankees
Royce Ring has come in to relieve Zack Segovia. Segovia allowed just one hit in 2 1/3 innings of work. Ring will face Pete Orr, Leonard Davis and Kevin Mench in the bottom of the eighth inning. 

Bottom of the 8th, 3-2 Yankees
Jonathan Albaladejo has come in to relieve Royc Ring after 2/3 of an inning. Albaladejo will face Kevin Mench with two outs and nobody on base in the bottom of the eighth inning. 
Top of the 9th, 3-2 Yankees
Kevin Mench singled to left, but was stranded after Josh Whitesell flew out to left field. Victor Garate is now pitching for the Chiefs. Jesus Montero, Rene Rivera and Reid Gorecki are due up for the Yankees in the top of the ninth inning. 
Bottom of the 9th, 3-2 Yankees
The Yankees were unable to add any insurance runs in the top half of the ninth inning. Rene Rivera struck out, but reached first base on the wild pitch by Garate. Rivera then advanced to second on another wild pitch by Garate. The Yankees couldn’t bring him home and the score remained 3-2 Yankees. Jonathan Albaladejo has come out to pitch the bottom half of the ninth inning for the Yankees.

Hey Mike, i was at the game tonight and it was one of the more interesting AAA games i’ve ever seen. do you have any info as to why weber was tossed? it didn’t seem like he was out of line (or wrong) after the call.

Also, I saw Stras hit 99 on the stadium gun a bunch of times, but then was told the display couldn’t show above 99 and that he hit 102 at one point. Any idea if that’s true? Personally, i think people are going to be pretty disappointed when he gets to the big show because his composure isn’t there at all.
